Flamingo A-Go-Go, the first official release, was recorded in 1985 in the "Aids Den", Marty's parent's shed that was our practice pad and Marty's "Love Shack" and opium den.

The recording was engineered by Eric Powell, and was recorded on Zippy's Porta-One four track cassette recorder. This fine piece of gear would only actually record two tracks at a time, so we had to record a scratch/click track live first. Then each member added his individual track until we recorded over the scratch track, ending up with each instrument on a track. Then the four track was schlepped to Studio Four (in Philly, where Eric worked) and mixed down to stereo during the graveyard shift. It was then bounced back to two tracks of the Porta-One. Back to the Aids Den again to record the vocals, then back to Studio Four for the final Mix. THERE WERE NO OVERDUBS OF ANY KIND!!!

The artwork was the brainchild of Robert "Bobby" Paul (Barrella). Dickey Flamingo was the "mascot" of the band. He was an actual lawn flamingo that was mounted to the drum kit and sported a pair of sheet-metal Ray-Bans screwed to his little head.
